Leonard T. Haight

U.S. Veteran

Leonard T. Haight, 80, of 162 New Jersey Avenue, James City, died Thursday afternoon, February 21, 2013 at the Bradford Manor, where he resided for the past two days.

Born January 23, 1933 in James City, he was the son of Garland D. and Barbara M. Maze Haight. On July 24, 1955 in Kane, he married Barbara A. Beatty, who died in 1998.

Mr. Haight served in the U.S. Army, 112th Infantry during the Korean War. A tool & die maker by trade, he later owned and operated the James City Cafe for twenty years.

He was a member of VFW Post 1132 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, both in Kane, and the Loyal Order of Moose.

Surviving are two daughters, Marge (Butch) Terry and Sally (Mike Detsch) Peterson, both of James City; five grandchildren, Lesley Terry, Jessica Gabriel, John Terry, Kelsey Peterson and Patrick Detsch, plus two great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death, besides his wife and parents, are sisters Hazel Reigel, Naomi Farnsworth and Anna Johnson; and a brother, Ronald Haight.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Sunday at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home, Inc. in Kane, where a service will be held at 11:00 on Monday with the rev. William LaVelle, pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Kane, officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Kane.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Community Nurses Hospice, 757 Johnsonburg Road, St. Marys, PA 15857.
